While getting prepped for surgery, the anesthesiology nurse used her cell phone (a blackberry or treo or something) to checkout the some of the prescription meds I take. She just typed in the drug name and got the info. Must've been a web app or something that uses the web. Never realized cell phones in hospitals were ok and used so widely. Probably had to be approved by the hospital's IT dept. Cool, tho.

Honey, they shrunk the Treo

Why do you like to review irrevelant products?

Honey, they shrunk the Treo

This is what Palm needs. A cheap usable device. It looks stylish enough for everyone. Most people do not want to invest 200+ dollars on a smartphone. Right now, my smartphone is a audiovox 6600 I picked up on ebay for $90. Cell phones are not much of a problem in hospitals as they used to be. There are some articles stating is OK to use them, but a recent european report mentioning some interference with ICU equipment if used close to respirators, etc. I use mine for rounds for medication databases, interactions, medical formulas , etc. Smartphones have changed the way I practice significantly, and for the better. We use a lot of on line applications also, but myu Treo is indispensable. Windows based are also useful. The Iphone would be nice but does not support any of my medical applications unless you use wi-fi/on line access.

Honey, they shrunk the Treo

Its amazing how many people can say this device won't work when all they know is what they've read here. I've used it, it works great. I've never had a smartphone and this would make me take the next step.

Honey, they shrunk the Treo

>>Why do you like to review irrevelant products?

LOL. Just because this item is irrelevant to you doesn't mean it isn't relevant to many others.
Honey, they shrunk the Treo

I am always please to read the good stuff you guys put on here. Helps me make a better decision on what to buy.

Honey, they shrunk the Treo

If you guys think those sound good, hold on for the NEW Verizon phone. It freezes routinely, and likes to get itself stuck in a fatal-reset loop which requires you to wipe out EVERYTHING and restore. So you'd better be backing up hourly, AND have a good memory of everything you've entered since the last backup. The promised firmware update was first taken down July 12th for errors; a fix was falsely announced; and now that it's finally available, I'd have to spend another $80 on an SD card and reader to instally through my Mac! Despite repeated assurances, Verizon still does not offer the more-favorably reviewed 755p.. and now there's already a new kid on the block -- again, offered by Sprint but not Verizon? Corporate Offices have been repeatedly notified of this debacle, to no avail. I've just started a new company involved with mobile medical applications, so I'm coming at this from both business and consumer perspective. I'm thoroughly underwhelmed with both Palm and Verizon.

Honey, they shrunk the Treo

I still love my Palm Treo 650. Works great. Every now and then it will re-boot. But nothing gets lost. I got my for $150 on E-bay. best way to go..
